Guys,
Had a wierd issue last weekend on my camping trip. I was pulling us a very steep grade and lost some serious speed and had traffic coming up on me fast. So I flipped on my Hazards and immediatly lost a few hundred RPMs and boost. The engine had serious lag, I turned them off and RPMs went back to normal and boost was back. Is this an issue? Maybe a fuse or a short somewhere? Any info would be appreciated. FYI... Truck kis stock and I have not instaled the gauges or Chip yet (planning that next weekend).
Thanks
Sounds like somehow the hazards are tied into the EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve), they shouldn't be. Can you repeat the problem by turning on the hazards? Try unplugging the EBPV two wire connector just in front of and below the turbo.
Yes, I was able to try it again with the same results on my return trip. I will try to unplug the EBPV and see what happens this weekend. Hopefully it acts the same if I am not pulling the trailer. Is it possible that the trailer lights , headlights and evrything else being on drained the power too much when the hazards were turned on?
If they were somehow tied into the EBPV wouldn't you hear the valve close? You could try letting the truck sit at Idle and hit the Hazards and see if you hear the valve close. Course, not sure how it sounds with stock exhaust. Mine is straight piped and you can definatly tell when it's on, but mine is on a toggle also.
Going to try to look into it on Friday this week, but if not then then the following weekend. I am going to try to see if it happens again without a load on the truck (trailer) and will try to disconnect the EBPV and see if it happens again. The truck is not my DD so the priority has been a little low. Thanks for looking in and i will post as soon as i know something.
