Should I or shouldn't I?

My 2000 Ranger with a 3.0 and 4R44E has 190,000 on the clock and it has a slight slip when going into 2nd. It doesn't happen all the time but is noticeable when it happens. As far as I know, the bands have never been adjusted. My question is.....should I adjust the bands to see if I can get some more life out of the trans or save money for a rebuild? I have heard some stories that a trans with this many miles on it, an adjustment may possibly break the bands.

Take it in for a transmission service of fluid and filter to a good trans shop and have them adjust it to the correct pressure.
