Hey I am getting ready to sand down my truck and prime it and I was wondering what you all thought would be a good one to use I been told one that rotates and goes side to side is the best. But what do you all think? Thanks.
Random orbit for sure. I have a makita 5 in and burned that up but it took me ten years a alot of sanding to do it. I bought a 20 dollar 5 inch from harbor freight. I sanded my entire truck twice and it's still going strong.
If you are just sanding paint than yes I agree use an 'OGE' orbital sander if you have a good compresser than I would not bother with an electric one, air is much better "IMO" but an electric will do just fine...
I would think anything thats dual action, like a random orbital sander. They use a ton of air though. Id get one of those big long sanding blocks too.
They do use a lot of air but make short work of a sanding job and I find them easier to handle, as for the block unless he has to do alot of body work the panels should be straight enough to get away without blocking it out. If you do have to block it and have a comp. Than get a board file 'air opperated block' they are not cheap but after hours of sanding with a manual block, it will pay for itself... A good make is the 'hustler' blue point.
