my trans hit 220 one time on the interstate and ever since i have been afraid of getting it to hot. I have been doing some scrap metal and on day that OAT was around 50-60F i seen temps from 140-150 pulling the trailer was 6000lbs loaded that includes the trailer itself. I got a tru cool cooler for 28,000lbs. not the max one is this one just as good?
Were you pulling a hill when it got to 220* with a load ? I have never been that hot on the freeway with my truck, even pulling a mountain pass.. You might a something else going on to bring the temps up that high..The only time I get up around 200* is pulling a load thru town, with stop and go thru stop lights, using 1st and 2nd gear alot.. and the torque converter working extra hard..
the 220 was unloaded on a flat interstate with minor hills i thought the stock cooler was pluged so i blew out both the OTA and OTW coolers and havent seen anything that high since. I should be instaling tonight or tomarrow i will post back results
I have seen temps that high with mine. But that was snowplowing a lot, so no air movement. I now have an electric fan sucking air thru my larger cooler, havent had any problems since then. When it starts to get hot plowing I flip the switch and watch the gauge go down. Also change my fluid about every 20,000.
temps seamed to warm up faster but then after 80F they very slowly heated up then i was at school so i couldnt run it any more i was looking in a VB now what sets BTS and JW apart and PHP should beable to tune my chip for it correct.
Yes, PHP can change the calibrations for the valve body. Just be aware that the only thing the valve body will do for you is mechanically increase the flow rates through the valve body instead of doing it electrically with increased pressure.
EDIT:
Oh, and the new switches are $25 each plus shipping.
so its pointless to get a VB? and thanks cody i will have to get one. I just take the old switch out of the chip and then plug the new one in correct? And do i order it through you guys or ts?
You'd have to get it through us (or another TS dealer). Simple plug/play.
The valve body doesn't strengthen the transmission, it just alters shift feel by mechanical means and larger orifices rather than just raising pressure to get the same flow.
would a TC lockup switch help anything just looking for small mods right now the bank has run dry. How hard would it be? The reason im asking is bc sometimes in town around 38-40mph i can see the tach move up and down likes its locking and unlocking.
