Sputter issue when warm

Hi guys, I figured I would post here as well just in case there is any one that watches here but not where my original thread is.

I have a 1990 f150 ext cab 300 "big six baby yeah"

short version lol. When the truck warms up it will sputter when held at a steady throttle and jerk during light acceleration. when you open it up it does not do it and when idling if it does do it i cant tell.

What I've done: replaced fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuel filter, egr position sensor, brand new distributor all the way down, wires, plugs, vacuum lines, upper intake gasket, injectors on cylinder 1,2,5,6, as 3 and 4 looked new already, and the ignition switch. I also replaced the clutch and dropped the front fuel tank but I doubt if that has any thing to do with it lol.

I read somewhere that told me to unplug the MAP sensor and drive it like that. It stopped the sputter but it also made takeoff terrible. So thats what I was thinking to replace next.

Also I was originally chasing down code 41 but after replacing the injectors its not there anymore.

Thanks for any help yall may have.

Did you get the ignition control module checked? Even if you replaced it, it could still be a bad one.

My truck does the same thing. The cause of my is the egr valve. You can make a restrictor plate for it and it should fix the problem. I will be making one for my truck today. Here is a link to a thread that has A LOT of good info. Read through it and I think it might solve your problem.

wow thanks for the egr info. I will test that when the wife gets home. making a restrictor plate is cheaper then replacing the map but im going to check that out too.

as for the icm checking. I bought a brand dizzy assembly that came with the module and it still ran the same. i may pull it to test as well after looking at the egr.

thanks for the info guys I will repost my results.

I put a restrictor plate between the intake and the egr valve and it solved my problem and my truck runs smooth now. Make sure you take the negative cable off for about 10 minutes so your computer can "relearn" the fuel settings.

I pulled the egr vacuum hose off last night and it cracked to pieces in my hand. I wasn't expecting that lol. I capped the lines on both sides just in case the exhaust pressure was enough to open the valve. I also took the negitive off for a few min so it could reset the comp for default settings till i drive it.

So far I have not had a chance to drive it far but when i went to the store it did not seem to do the sputtering thing.

I will post more soon after i have a chance to drive it.

It runs like a dream that is freakin cool. I'm going to make a restrictive plate like the other guys said on that thread posted. I appreciate it soo much thanks.
