I have a 2004 F-250 Super Duty. When I turn the headlights on the brake lights will come on and stay on without even touching the brakes. The truck has a trailer brake controller installed on it (I don't know if this could be the source of the problem) and to the best of my knowledge it did not do this before it was installed. I have also just disconnected all of the TBC wires off of the pigtail before trying to see if that would help, but the brake lights still remain on when the headlights are in the on position.
This is really keeping me from pulling a trailer at night (yet alone even drive at night) because with the brake lights lit up all of the time the trailer brakes seem to think that I am trying to brake (when my foot isn't even on the brake) and the trailer will apply the brakes.
Has anyone had this problem or anyone know of what may be causing this to happen? If anyone knows anything that might help me I would greatly appreciate it.
i had a similar issue that ended up being the 7-pin trailer plug in; it was so badly corroded inside of it that it was crossing wire signals and backfeeding into the trucks lights. it was a matter of buying a $6 replacement, cutting and splicing the wires, and all was well.
