converting 1356 to 1345

im having a time finding a 1356 like came out ..... and I was told a 1345 will fit . This is a snow plow truck .

I bought a 1345 , and need to know the tricks to swap it in .

My 1356 had a slip in driveshaft , this 1345 is bolt on

Before I get too far into buying parts .... is this really more durable than a 1356 ?

All 1345 have fixed rear yokes, and yes, they're stronger than the 1356. 1345s were used in heavy trucks from ~'85-~'92 (just general guesses). All you need are the driveshafts from a truck originally equipped with a 1345 with the same wheelbase as yours and a transmission of similar length, OR you could have your driveshafts cut for length & rebuilt to fit.

hmm , now im confused , another guy in the 4x4 forum said a 1356 is stronger .

This 1345 came out of a 87 bronco . I have a 88 f-150 . I wonder if the rear shaft will be the same ..... doubt it eh .

Definitely not the same. Different wheelbases, even if the transmissions are the same length.

For an F-150, strength doesn't really matter - they're all strong enough for that.

Ford changed mid-year 1987 from the 1345 to 1356. The 1356 is over-all stronger, however like Steve said, either is strong enough for an F-150.
