I just have a quick question. I got my AE in the mail the other day RiffRaff and been playing around with it trying to get familiar with the program. The question I've got, I calibrated the speedo on my truck (01 7.3 6 speed) and worked like a charm, this weekend I tried it on my buddies 04 6.0 6 speed and for some reason the AE would not pull the abs module (cant remember the exact message that popped up). I shut down plugged back into the truck same thing, it would pull the enhanced powertrain run those self tests but not the abs . I've looked at Woodnthings page and followed his directions for recalibration (great info thanks much) but no go on the 04. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Did you make sure you had the correct year selected? Did you try another year like 05?
If I want to see trans temp on my '99 then I have to select 2000 or else that function won't be available to me. From time to time you will find little quirks like that with AE...
Thanks, I didn't even think of that. Now that you mention it my buddy told me that his truck was an early build date in 04 so I'll try plugging in 03 first. I figured it would be something weird like this that I was missing, everything went way to easy on my truck.
AE can find the VIN and year, but from what I have found on the 7.3 trucks that have chips or tunes it doesn't auto detect. You may want to try it in auto mode first.
In '04/'05 they switched over to CANBUS which is a different setting on the configuration screen.
Why cant the unit figure out what year it is on its own?
AE will be able to gather all that info from the VIN on gas vehicles. However, that feature doesn't work on the diesel engines. If you try and pull the VIN search while the engine is running it just kills the engine.

Very interesting Ken. So, you are saying the VIN feature will work on a stock tuned truck?

I have had it work on stock trucks, now remembering back they may have all been 6.0's but it has worked. Depending on the truck i have had some just give me fits, then all the sudden everything comes up.

That makes sense on the 6.0 trucks. I just tried it on mine and it didn't auto detect(in stock tune...) Too bad, I thought we just found out a way to determine if a tune had been uploaded to the PCM. That would have been a neat discovery.
I'm kinda on the fence on ordering the AE stuff. Threads like this make it seem a little user unfriendly tho. How easy/difficult is it to actually use?? I'm no computer genius but I am not a total idiot either.
Bumpity bump, as I'm close to ordering AE myself for my two trucks. Is it that hard to use? It didn't seem too difficult when I watched Mueckster use his...
So far from what I can tell, it's worth it. It's not that difficult to use...but from what I have read and experienced there is just a little learning curve to use it to it's full potential. Plug it into the rig and it will read the generic obd2 diagnostic codes right of the bat but to get into the actual vehicle specific (Ford) tests it seems that it can be a little finicky and trial and error until you get used to the program for the various vehicles.
