Torqueing headers?
Torqueing headers?
I'm putting some Flowtech longtube headers on my 1992 F150 with a 302. I'm wondering what to torgue the bolts to. The directions say to just get em tight but I figured they would need to be torqued. Any help would be appreciated.
Not sure about the torqing. I have 90 f1 curious how your runing the exhaust of the long tubes iv also thought about a set.
They dont need to be tourqued, but ust like most assemblys, get them all snug and then just get them wrench-tight making sure you dont put the first bolt in and tighten it all the way and then it leaks.
Also, keep in mind that after you install the headers, run the truck for about 15 min and get it up to good running temp and then shut it down, let it cool off and then re-tighten the bolts because they will expand when they get hot and then contract when the motor cools, thus causing them to be loose.
Hope this helps!

Factory manifold bolts were like 18-20ft lbs factory spec., but with small headed header bolts, more like 8-10.
Just remember to keep re-snugging them for about the first 1,000 miles, did this and have never had a loose bolt or leak on my 460.
