460 Conversion?
I am trying to replace a 351W in my 1976 Ford Coachmen RV/E350 chassis with a 460 motor and C6 transmission. I have found a 1979 Ford Club Wagon on Ebay with a 460/C6, but was wondering if anybody can tell me if that engine and transmission, from a 1979 Club Wagon, will work for my 1976 Coachmen RV (E350 chassis)? I would also replace the rear differential from the current 4.11 gears to the van's 3.53 gears. This is definitely a huge project, but I can't live with the 351W in a 9000 pound vehicle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

460 Conversion?
The 460 engine was an option in the 1976 Coachmen RV, but I'm worried about the transmission craddle and drivetrain length. I will be using the engine mounts from the 1979 Van. Any ideas about the difference in length of a E350 class van chassis and a E150/E250? I'm truly hoping to just pull the engine/trans out of one and swap it into my RV. Thanks for any help.

My '76 Superior (E-350) has a 460/C-6. I have had several 3/4 ton vans this way as well. The biggest thing you'll find different is the dog house, it has a hump on the floor & you'll need to remove a small amount of metal to clear the webs on top of the trans. Also, I don't run the oil filter adapter. I use a direct block mount & a FL-300 filter. It has the same size element as a FL-1A.
