I'm not alone, I was beginning to think I was that 1 voice crying out in the wilderness. I don't mind if someone wants to change it more often, but what gets me, is the unspoken suggestion, that it must be necessary to do something 2-3 times as often as the maintenance book suggests. while it does no harm it won't improve the component life 1 minute over what i would expect to get by following the book. for myself I bought my truck so I could go camping etc, not so i could tinker as a hobby. although with new work here there may be some cash to play with the truck and I'm getting excited about that possibility
Where does the FA1909 pre-filter go in a 2011 F-350 6.7 L diesel? I got one thinking it keeps the snow out of the air filter housing but it doesn't look like it fits anywhere in the air filter housing. I plug the filter box and element with snow when I drive in a snow storm. Are there any solutions to keep the air intake from filling up with snow? I tried closing the gap below the headlights with foam with limited success but still get plugged filters. I do not plow. I live in Northern Ontario, Canada.
If the Ford FA1909 pre-filter goes in the by-pass side of the air filter box, how do you stop snow from getting sucked into the main part of the air intake?
I don't think it is intended to keep the regular filter from plugging, more like it provides an alternative path for airflow when it does plug. If I understand correctly
