So this a crappy explanation on the mechanical gauge conversion.
FIRST_I went and bought the 2 gauges that Julie told me to get.
PIC#1-Sun Pro Oil pressure gauge at autozone for 14.00
PIC#2 VDO Water Temp gauge..Make sure the are the needle goes the right way like on the picture.
Water temp clock wise and oil the needle points down and swings to the right.you will see it.
Take gauge cluster out from dash.you have to unplug all wiring first.
It is easier if you take the cover and glass off the gauge cluster to get to the gauges.
PIC1-unscrew the oil pressure gauge from cluster.
PIC2-You will only need the original gauge "face",the housing and the plate that holds the gauge on the cluster.and you will need to disassemble the Sun Pro gauge too.
PIC3-You will only need this from the sunpro gauge, and the pluming that goes to the engine of course.
You will take all the electrical components behind the old gauge, even the needle.
You will take the "face" on the original gauge and glue it to the SunPro gauge face. You will have to drill a little hole for the needle "stop" on the old"face".
You will have to work the sun pro needle inside the old gauge "face"opening.
PIC1-It will look something like this
PIC2-Side view of the "face transplant"
PIC3-Note that I drilled 2 holes for the "needle stop".I messed up on the fird=st hole so it was not centered so I had to drill another hole.
After the "face" is glued on the sunpro its time to notch the housing and backing plate.
PIC1-This is the notch on the housing,I dont think it matters on what side you make the cut.
PIC2-This is the the notch on the backing plate.
PIC3-It will look like this kind of.I assume that you will make a better job.
PIC1-this is how it will look in the front.
PIC2-You might have to notch the backing plate like this for the temperature gauge, depending on where the fitting is.
