Any one have any diagrams or plans etc for home made steering set up? I have a 74 f100 with a 4 inch lift. And the tie rods and draglink and such all seem to be from different models. Its got the Dana 44 front end, so would a older half ton dodge or chevy set up work? Same lengths? Or close. I'm asking cause they have to stubby outer tie rods for easier and cheaper replacement. I don't need anything crazy it's not a rock crawling mud slinging monster truck. It's a hunting/camping wood hauling truck. Any thoughts let me know. Thanks
Why dont you just stick with the factory Ford configuration? If the 4" lift requires modification to the linkage there are plenty of aftermarket setups that will work without trying to use other manufacturer's stuff.
The factory ford parts are expensive and I have nothing good to reuse. The PO had beat up the truck from se in an orchard. So I was looking for options. I know the easiest way would be use the stock setup and from what I can tell there isn't any crazy modifications needed. I was just wondering and thanks for the advice.
Just seems like the easiest route to go would be factory, it will mount up with no fabrication needed and I dont see the dodgge or chevy stuff being any cheaper but maybe so. You could search the local yards and maybe find used, good luck.
