I got my first truck back!
Man it's been a long time since I've posted on this forum. Last post was back in 2005 I think. Back then I had my project pickup, a 1978 Ford F100 Custom short box 2wd pickup. It's my very first truck. Dad bought it back in 1985, and did a basic restoration on it. I learned how to drive stick in it, was my daily during High School, and turned project truck. We moved up to northern MN back in 2004, and I brought the pickup with me. I had already built a 400M for the truck, and was going to put the motor in the truck. But life happened, and I ended up selling the truck. The next owner put a 460 big block in it with a C6 automatic trans. Then he traded the truck for some big block Chevy parts to finish a Camaro build for his son. I lost track of the truck after that, and told me self I would get another 78 F100 someday. Years past, and I got a few other project vehicles, and toys. First one was a truck me and my dad never thought we would own in our lifetime. It's a mostly original 1953 Chevy 3100 pickup. 216 I6, 3spd on the tree, 6V, does about 50mph tops. Very cool pickup. I plan to keep that one just a driver. Then a few years ago I bought a 2004 Mustang GT which has eaten up most of my paychecks over the last couple of years. Built the motor, did some suspension mods, different wheels and tires. It's a fun summer cruiser.
Back on August 17 I was on Facebook Market place when I spotted someone selling a 1978 Ford F-series. It had no box, but the cab was mostly restored, and it had a running and driving motor. I contacted the selling and went and looked at it. When I saw the truck in person I kept saying to myself this is just like my old truck. Then I looked at the license plate. IT WAS MY OLD TRUCK! I showed the guy who was selling it, and he couldn't believe it either. I told him I didn't have the cash, but offered to trade him on of my snowmobiles (2000 Polaris 700 RMK). He said he really didn't need a snowmobile, but with winter coming up he could sell the sled just as easy. He even delivered it to my house! So now the fun begins of getting all the parts I need to get this truck to the vision I had back in High School. A old school muscle truck.
Here are some pics of how the truck is right now...
GF being silly with both of the trucks...
