Question soft brake pedal

Hey guys I'm going to be pulling my 79 out of storage here in the next week or so and last fall before I put it away for winter I changed out front calipers rotors to sloted cryo rotors new rubber lines new MC and brake booster and my pedal is still super spongy I've vacum bled them like 5 times and still having problems my motor only creates about 6lb of vacum at idle so I was thinking maybe getting a vacum pump or just forking ove the doe for hydro brakes but I wanted some ideas on what to try before I throw more money at it I'm new to brakes and working on them

Thanks guys

Why would low vacuum make the pedal spongy?

A spongy pedal will be caused by air in the lines, or an expanding rubber line. I would have a friend help you out with an inspection.

I don't no anybody that's good with brakes

I already replaced all the rubber line thinking that was causing the spongy pedal that dint help so then I replaced calipers and rotors in the front that dint help with the spongy pedal but did give me better braking then what I had before then I replaced the mc and booster helped a little but the pedal is still not as firm as I would like it to be

Might not be using the right word(Sleepy) The rod that connects the brake pedal to the master cylinder.

There is a medal rod between the Booster and master cylinder that can be adjusted. You will have to separate the master cylinder and booster to access it.

It still sounds to me that there is air in the lines. I would search on this site for exact instructions on proper ways to bleed lines. Sometimes we need to remember to try the simplest solutions first, something that i never remember to do myself!!!

I am having a similar problem with mine. i have a 77 f-150. Recently replaces the master cylinder, but the brakes still seem like they don't want to stop me much. I don't have leaks and bled the brakes pretty well. I wasn't getting any more air from the lines and I bled from the furthest to closest like you are supposed to. Maybe I should try again. Only bled them once. Guess I might need some more break fluid.

@1979BEAST, check all your fittings to make sure their tight. Its possible you have one loose that sucking in air.

Did either of you bench bleed the master cylinder (OUT of the truck, BEFORE installation) when you replaced it? You can bleed the lines downstream of the MC all you want, but it's all for nothing if the MC has not been bench bled. You would be amazed at the amount of air that comes trapped in a brand new MC. It takes a long time to really get it all out. I actually do it at 2 angles in addition to being level - a few last bubbles usually find their way out when I do it.

I bench bled it, but it seemed to go pretty quickly. I might have to take it off and do it all over again if it really takes a while. That is probably my problem. I gave it a few pumps on the bench bleed and bubbles went away. So I figured it was good. I can do it again. It will have to wait until I get it to AZ though. Im army and leave to Ft. Huachuca AZ on friday. Won't get my truck down there until at least the end of May at the earliest. Anyone in that area?
