Power steering swap
I have a 1977 f-150 2wd with a 351m, automatic and it has manual steering. I have the parts off of a 1976 f-150 with a 460, automatic, for power steering. Logic would say that this is a bolt in, but is it. I have the complete front end off right now to do an engine re-gasket and detail job, so I can get at everything. I just wanted a quick turn around project, but would make sense to do this now. Anybody do this swap or something similar?

The considerations are the column, the hoses, the drag link mount and the pump mounting.
The column is most likely the same. Just measure the gear or visually check the stick-out of the input shaft.
The hoses should be workable but it depends on the pump your using.
The drag link end that bolts to the pitman arm is different from the 3/4 tons to the half tons. You will have to check the taper of the link end to see if they are the same.
The mounting brackets that bolt the pump onto the 460 engine will not bolt onto a 351M/400. You will need to find brackets from a 351M/400 which shouldn't be too difficult.
I changed a steering gear on a 75 heavy 3/4 2WD a few months back and its not too difficult of a job with the truck all assembled. The hardest part was getting the hoses off and back on.
