Wheels and tires
I have been away for awhile from the forum.
I just bought a 1976 F-250 Super cab and am looking to replace the tires as they are bias ply and hard as a rock.
The front tires are 7.50 x 16 and the rears are 9.50 x 16.5? Is that a factory set up?
16.5 inch tires are not so plentiful and rather spendy for what will be a very limited use vehicle.
I see a set of 2003 F-250 wheels on the local Craigslist and was wondering if they would fit? I have seen discussions about backspacing before and am not really sure what that means or how to go about checking it to see if these wheels will fit. Would 8 bolt wheels from a C***Y or D***E fit or are the bolt patterns dramatically different?
Oh, they are 17" wheels so I guess I would have to figure out what tire size would have the least impact on a speedometer reading.
Maybe it is just easier to find some stock 16" steel wheels for it, lots more tire choices there.
Opinions, comments welcome.
Thanks,
Craig
