I learned something today.

A buddy of mine had me over to help him pull his front axles out to change the seals. The 05's either has different. Axles, hubs, and lockers than the 04s or it has something to do w/ the willis package that's on it. Anybody heard of a willis package? Anyway the hub doesn't have needle bearings in it. The axle is shorter in the hub and only has a splitring on the axle. It doesn't have the 3 washers like on the 04s. Everthing was bolted and worked the same. Besides thungs looking different it went well.
What is the advantages of these changes and can these parts be put on the 04s. By looking at them it kooks like they should. Heck his u joint has a greaae fitting.

Not sure about that package..would like to know what is in that package, I never even heard of it. The only ones I knew that they had in 05 were Amarillo, Harley, and King Ranch...besides the normal xl, xlt, and lariat. The front end sounds normal as there were many changes in 05 compared to 99-04. My 06 also came through with greasable U-Joints.

Would your buddy mind of you posted pictures of that truck so we could see that package...it may just be a dealer installed sticker

I'm going to take pictures of it tomorrow. Its notna willis ford sticker. Where mine has FX4 his has willis. This is a lifted truck and it has the dvd player with screens mounted in the back of the driver and passenger seats.
What we know about the truck is that ford sent this truck to the dealer in chatt. Tenn. They traded with Family ford in florence to sell it to my buddy. We haven't been able to find anything else.

In 2005 the D60 front axle was slightly changed. Stub shafts went from 30 to 35 splines, are slightly larger, and the hubs are different. Went from the old needle bearings to sealed unit bearings, a few other small details. It's enough of a difference that Warn won't support the 2005 and up SDs, and their 35 spline custom application hubs don't work, was confirmed via Krewat and a parts diagram a while back.

Thanks Tex for the info. Just as soon as I pulled locker I knew I was in for a treat. I noticed after I got the hub off the spindle was shorter. Its really not a spindle but I do know what that part of the axle is called.

Yeah dont get me wrong that thing is sharp. Could some one resize the pics so we could see it all in 1 screen...Ex is posting pics like I do now LOL.

We have a few dealers up here that do that, have a new truck they pick off the lot and have it decked out. They are doing it to used trucks around here mostly now. Must be with fuel prices they are sitting too long and need to make them appealing.

I see brand new "Southern Comfort" SD's all the time on flea bay but they are huge money. Same idea I think.

Sarge some time next week I'll get better pictures. At that time we under the gun with tornados and we had ourbtrucks in the breeze way. Well I say next week he was planning on going on vacation. I don't know if the destruction has changed his mind or not. But as soon as I'm around his truck ill take the pictures. How do you mean resize the pictures? I took those w/ my phone and posted them w/ my phone. Tell me what size and what you want a picture of and ill do/get it.

Was the outlaws in 05? Had red/black seats. A few chrome badges. I think it had a small lift.

I just meant make the pictures smaller. I cant see the whole picture on my computer cause its so big.

I thought the outlaw was a 07 MY only but I could be wrong...I wasnt a fan of the interior on those and I wasnt sure they had a lift either. Then again I have only ever saw one at a ealer and it was a07 Special Orderd truck for a customer there. I havent seen it since.

I hope you all made out ok with the storms. My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved in the destruction down there.
