Starting issues
I am having starting issues with my 1985 F-150. The truck will start just fine in the morning, it usually takes a few seconds to turn over but its an old truck so I figure thats normal. Then there are times it wont start when I have been driving it around for awhile and making a few stops. I can tell that it is going to die soon because it will start really sluggish a few times and then it will eventually stop starting. It sounds like a really slow crank and then it will go into a clicking noise. Most the time If I let it sit for awhile it will start again. The alternator and the starter are both fairly new, I just replaced the battery cables. Every time I get the battery tested it comes back good. It is always drained but still "good". Today I replaced the ignition control module and the ignition coil in hopes that it would solve the problem. When I tried to jump start it, it sounded like everything had full power but still no luck. It wanted to start but it almost sounded like it wasnt getting gas or something. Pretty lost right now. Don't really want to take it to the mechanic, but this was my wife's great-grandfather's truck so I want to keep it running for her and this problem is kicking my butt. Thanks!
