Well I stopped by the dealer today and my truck is in pieces...Anything that is fuel related is being replaced, everything except the turbo's, They mentioned that the oil level was rising in the crankcase, Ford changed it 5000 mile ago, and any higher it would off got sucked up and blown the engine....The fuel filter has small pieces of metal, they think from the high pressure pump. Also said that if the filters weren't Ford, they wouldn't warranty...hmmmmm.
There are some exhaust pieces that have flex fitting on them that were leaking, Black soot on the firewall, maybe getting fumes in the cab.... just crazy how many issues this engine has...
Well the Mechanic has his hands full, not sure when I get it back, looks to be a while..
Absolutely only use Ford filters on this engine! There are several videos on youtube that show the damage aftermarket filters can cause. These engines cost thousands to repair, ford filters cost a little more than aftermarket. This guy knows his stuff YouTube - powerstrokehelp's Channel
Sounds to me like this proves Ford filters are no better nor worse. They'd also have to prove the aftermarket filter caused any problem, can't just blanketly refuse a claim because of a filter brand.
Galaxie, you would be surprised what tricks Ford will do to get out of paying a major warranty claim. The ford filters are better than aftermarket, and besides, why take the chance of a denied claim because of a fuel filter? Doesn't make sense.
That sucks man. I have been going back and forth about buying one of these for 2 years now. Every time I see a thread like this, I start questioning myself about it. Anyway, good luck with it. I hope it works out in your favor.
For what I have been hearing and reading, this regen for all the new diesel engines are major issues, I feel the sooner or latter there's going to be problems, filters are cheap compared to the repair..Why go through the BS. So far my dealer been great, Hope they get it right. I also have a power booster that was leaking, not under warranty but Ford is picking up half..the cost. It is a very costly repair, but its only metal..Dont like having the truck laid up but,....Stuff happens.
