Hey everyone I need some input here as usual haha. My truck is an 01 F350 with a 7.3 6 speed. It has the 6637 kit, 4 inch mbrp, and a stock TS 6 position chip. The guy before me had the MAP sensor unplugged, he said it ran better.
With it unplugged the truck does indeed run great, I get anywhere from 16-23 mpg with it. Except it smokes some. I went ahead and plugged it back in just to see what happened, and my check engine light went off, but now my truck is super sluggish till 1500 RPMs then it takes off like a bat out of hell.
It does not smoke nearly as much as it did with it unplugged. Do you guys think that this might be a tuning issue? Maybe if I have the TS custom tuned I can have the MAP sensor plugged in and get rid of that CEL.
As always everyone thanks for all your help and advice. Hopefully I can help you guys out one day!
Have you ever had your MAP sensor checked to see what it is reading with the engine off? Could be something as simple as a bad sensor that is feeding erroneous information to the PCM, unplugging it simply makes the PCM use default values.
Hmm I will ask my buddy to check it out for me. He has all types of scanners. Regardless I want to have the chip custom tuned. $100 is to much right now, after the leveling kit and shocks I just got I am at like $369 bucks this week alone haha, There is always next weeks paycheck!
I wish I had another PSD around me, not to many people run power strokes. Everyone here has a CUMMINS with 14 big C's all over the paint and windows haha
