Does this sound right?

I talked to a crate engine mfg and they said if I wanted to convert from a 302 to a 351w I would have to spend 3000 not including the engine. does this sound right???

No. Maybe he meant without a trade in block.

this is what they said

"You would need to spend approx. $3000 over and above for the 351w to work.
We recommend staying with the 302 and build upon this."

I'd certainly ask him for details about what this $3K is for. If he can't come up with answers right away, I'd look somewhere else.

the engine is so sweet tho. Big orange found it first. its got 375hp/400lbs and its so shiny.

Does this sound right?

I'm switching over to a 351W right as we speak. Basically this is what I'm going through, I found a 351 at a junk yard with 50,000 miles it has everything on it (fuel injection, flex plate, manifolds, everything) cost 800.00 dollars. I've tore it apart everything is good. Replacing distributor 150.00, timing chain set 55.00, Mac headers 250.00, new computer 100-200 dollars, water pump 40-50 dollars, some paint to make it look nice 10-20 dollars, gasket kit got one from JEGS for 40.00 whole thing, new oil pump 30.00. Alot of the parts from the 302 will work on the 351W also. There's the cost of alot of miscellaneous parts in there also that I can't think of right now also, just small stuff. I think the guy is trying to rob you
