I have a 2001 "E" series cargo van, purchased after the 2002's came out. I have had to have 7, yes seven, blower motors replaced and one blower switch (that BURNED and had NO fuse). I think this is a bit much and I use my van delivering freight. The down time and cost (had to pay for 6 motors and the switch) is killing me. All I get from the dealers and "Ford Motor" is that it's out of warranty and I will have to pay if I want it repaired.
I am looking for help to find out what to do to "FIX" this and am open to most any ideas. If you have any thoughts PLEASE let me know. Thanks...
What happens to the blower motors? Do they quit running or make noise or?
Are you using Ford motors all the time or aftermarket ones?
I've never seen a van go through that many motors before
Each time I have had the blowers replaced the Ford dealer(s) replace them with OEM (that's what I am being told) motors. The same trouble each and every time, no noise, vibration or anything else. Just nothing, no blower at all, it's as if there is no power to them and each time I check fuses etc. and everything I can check. The end result is the same, a new blower moter and the same reply from the dealer(s) "don't know what happened, it works now... step over here and pay your bill"... I am getting tired of the same song and dance...
That's a strange one. I checked TSBs and there is nothing on that problem and I cant think of what could cause it. Maybe someone else has some ideas. If it happens again try tapping on the motor and see if it goes again. If it does you may have a stuck brush or something inside. Not sure if you could get the motor apart without destroying it but it would be interesting to try to figure out what happened to it.
Yesterday I had the 8th blower motor replaced. I was told that it may have been because of a bad ground (that could be). I was told 7.5 hours later that the ground was OK. And now, after pulling my dash apart that I am in the same position I was in, we still don't know why!!!
I was told to turn my truck off more, that because I drive 15 to 18 hours a day that I'm not giving the blower time to rest!!!
How do I tell my wife I can't make anymore money today, I have to let my blower motor rest???????
Do you run your motor in the lower speeds or on high?
I ask because back in the olden days if yoiu ran a AC(alternating current) motor with low voltage it would burn out. I don't know if the same holds true for DC motors. I think most speed controlers do their job by controlling the voltage to the motor. Just an idea.
