Hey guys my computer crashed and I lost all my saved stuff . I am changing my fuel filters and on the rail filter should I attach the filter to the cap then screw it on or just place the filter in the housing and then screw the cap on. If someone can give me the link to the writeup it would be great so I can save it again. I hate technology at times . Thanks again for any and all replies .
No write up but changed a few. Put the filter on the cap. Be sure to use a new o-ring on the cap, coat with oil then install and torque. Info is on the cap (TQ specs).
Thanks Scott. I had all that crap saved and poof it went into computer crash hell. This will be my first change so I wanted to make sure I remebered what I have seen and read.
Change filters with less than a quarter tank or do it with the truck parked facing uphill. I tried recently with a near full tank and fuel just wouldn't stop draining out. After a gallon came out and had no sign of slowing, I gave up. Only about a pint came out after I ran the tank down to a quarter tank. Swapping out filters was pretty much uneventful otherwise.
I had a quarter tank when I changed it. I received the HCFM gasket Today from Ford finally. Installed that and put the rail filter back in and cycled the key 6 times and she fired right up!
Scott always said get a new gasket and I was trying to be cheap and that was my problem. You have to get a new gasket because the old one swells up and it will not correctly! Thanks again for all the replies!!
