Hi:
I just got an 87 F250, but it needs a few repairs under the dash; the headlight switch replaced, and the heater only blows air to the vents. What is the best way to gain access behind the dash? Is the dash a snap-together type? Are there any special tools to remove it? My guess on the heater control is the lever is slipping on the cable since the lever works fine.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Pull the glovebox and find the cable that selects the output (follow the one that moves when you slide that control). Its far end probably came out of the spring clip.
The headlight switch is a pain no matter what you do, but I usually just reach up from beside the steering column to get to it. It's just not worth dropping the dash or even pulling the cluster.
The headlight switch is easy to replace. Remove the headlight and WW ***** and just pop off the dash plate. There are no screws on the left-hand plate. You now have access to the switches. Remove the 4 screws to remove the bracket. Pull the whole assembly out and remove the switch. It is very easy. I just changed out mine.
