Hello, problems

Hi, I have a few questions:

I have a 1990 Bronco Eddie Boyer Edt. w/ 302(5.0L)

1. Sometimes ill start my bronco and it will just to like 1500 rpms (which is normal, on a cool/cold day in Mich) and then it will immeditly drop down and die, it will run really rough from these few seconds and if you get out, it smells like it ran really rich, it does this like 1 or 2 times a month, and if I dont catch it and hit the gas, and it stalls, it is super hard to start, I have to let it sit for like 5 mins and then crank it for like 30 secs, and then let it sit for like 5 mins... etc etc...

2. My "breather" which is a tube comming off crankcase going into the airbox, it has terrible oil blow back and I buy these little "Crankcase filters" but they get soaked in oil and then fall apart. I know this isnt suppose to do this, but does anyone have any idea why it would? I just replaced my PCV (along with a Mobil 1 Oil Filter and 6 QTs or Mobil 1 10w-30, baby runs smooth as new) BUT i didnt check to see if there was pressure when it is running

Thanks for all the help, this forum is pretty nice, im gonna look around for engine performace, or does anyone have any good site for a 302.

Ohh 1 more question, would the alt mounts be the same for a mustang (90) w/ a 302 and my bronco?

Hello, problems

How many miles on the engine? Oil blow-by is not a good thing. Having that much blow-by is often indicative of worn rings. If the filter on that tube keeps getting soaked with oil, the rest of your air intake system (throttle body, intake manifold, etc...) is probably all gunked up as well. Pull the air tubes off the throttle body and see how it looks inside. Clean is good, dirty is bad.

Hello, problems

Pull the codes and do a compression test. You should at least clean the IAC, but you'll probably end up replacing it anyway.

Hello, problems

IAC

I did some research real quick, I replaced that last summer, along with the ERG, and ummmm 1 other thing, forgot what (I just for off owrk and im pretty tired)

The IAC looks liek a tube, kinda long and skinny (About 2inches in diameter, and about 8 inches long, and it sits next to the intake) Correct?

If so then yeah, I got that last year, and it didnt fix the stalling problem, it might be the coolant temp sensor, I havent replaced that.

Hello, problems

Stop replacing parts - you're wasting money & time since you don't know what the problem is and you're not fixing it anyway. Pull the codes and do some diagnosis.
