TCC Solenoid?

1980 f350 400(z)

I'm about to change my rear brakes because I've had that squeak that quits when you hit the brakes, but after looking at a couple other symptoms I'm not sure.

I was driving today and had a problem with the rogue hiccups I get every year when it gets over 50* outside. Usually they happen at 50+ mph- completely random though rare.

Another symptom that started today was after highway driving for 7 hours, when I got back in town, were constant attempts to die and a couple successes(stop lights/signs).

The last symptom that had me worried was what felt like a catch and release knock. Again I thought it was the rear brakes because the sound and feel seemed to come from behind me. It was fast but noticeable. I'm not 100% but I think it always happened while braking.

Also my brake light stays on on the dashboard until I brake hard or turn off/on truck.

It's hard to describe noises, isn't it?

Investigating the brakes is probably a good move since that light is on (which means there's a pressure differential between the front & rear brakes).

As for the hiccups & dying, I'd have the ignition module checked a a parts store.

"Catch and release knock," not sure what you're trying to convey here.......

It feels like for a half second something gets stuck but then comes loose.

Like if you were riding a motorcycle and someone put a stick in the spokes. The stick would break but you would feel the temporary resistance. Again I'm pretty sure this happened only when braking which made me think maybe the brakes were worn all the way down. (kinda like if you've ever hit a squirrel but without the bounce)

I'm pretty sure it's not the drive shaft because I changed the Ujoints 1-2 years ago and have had no problems. I could be wrong.

Brakes I think are a bit past due.

Thanks.

Check the rear Brake wheel cylinders when you redo the rear brakes. I bet they are bad and sticking, if not leaking some fluid.
