Posted about a month ago on the problems I was having with my 2.8L Engine. I decided to convert it to an earlier Carb and Distributor Gear to solve the low MPG and Idle problems. Just was wondering if you all knew if I need a different ignition module to work with the distributor. It is not a problem to find one but just want to know if it needs to be converted as well.
Just to let you know I found a Carb and Dist off of a 77 Mustang 2 for the replacement parts.
I believe that we used a module off of a '79 mustang, but am not positive, we did have to cut one of the plugs and wire it to the other because the plug types were slightly differant.
Although these modules are all nearly identical, they aren't DEAD NUTS identical. If you buy one, just tell the salesperson that it's for a '77 Mustang, since that essentially what you have now. Then, ask if the part numbers for the model year & engine of your Ranger are identical.
