Pulled codes while ago...got a 96. Says "Fuel Pump Circuit Open"-Battery to ECA (1988 On). What is ECA? Electronic Control something? Maybe fuel pump relay? And does this thing have a fuse for the fuel pump? If so does anybody know which one it is? I'm stumped. Pumps not getting any juice. Anybody got any ideas...HELP!
ECA=Electronic Control Assembly. Also known as ECM (Electronic Control Module) or EEC (Electronic Engine Control) or PCM (Powertrain Control Module). If you will, the main computer.
And does this thing have a fuse for the fuel pump?
Yes. I don't remember what year yours was, my '87 had a bunch of fusible links coming off of main power distribution. Later models had a power distribution box that had the main fuses and relays.

Fuel pump circuit is a pretty basic DC circuit. Do you have a wiring diagram? If it were me, I'd get a wiring diagram, and probably start at the fuel pump relay to see if the relay is closing like it should.
You can use jumper wires from the EEC relay to the fuel pump relay to operate it until you find the open wire in your harness, that's what I am doing. Whatever you do, do not disable the inertia (safety switch), a real safety concern is there.
Truck died on me other day just like it ran outta gas. Got a code 96 off it. "Fuel pump circuit open-Battery to ECA". Daughter is gonna jump me off tomorrow or try. Got 5 volts in the battery, not enough to activate the relays. Pulled Fuel pump and EEC relays out and checked wires to the plugins for continuity...all good. Then i pulled covers of both relays and plugged em back in. Checked for voltage on both. Had voltage on yellow wires on both relays. Then turned key on. Closed contact by hand on fuel relay and got voltage on ALL wires incl. pins 94(EAC) and 22(GROUND). Then did the same with EEC. Got voltage on all EXCEPT Black/Lt. Green). One that goes to Computer! Like i said the wires all had good continuity so i'm thinkin i got a bad EEC RELAY. Also i got to looking at the relay itself and about half the windings instead of being shiny copper colored are darker than the rest. Smelled of it and smelled like my old Computer Tech professor used ta say, "doesn't work anymore when ya let the smoke out if it". Smells like something got overheated. Anyways, the things only bout $15 so gonna go ahead and replace. I really think that's my problem. What say you guys?
Make sure you re-attach any of these relays with the covers pointed up, water got in and destroyed mine after some negligent mech. or PO just left them lying on the fender well after ripping them from their covered mounting place.
