Introducing me and my 72 F-250
Hey guys, I am pretty new around here, asked a couple questions but figured I should introduce myself. My name is Chris, I live in Spokane, WA. I recently bought this 1972 Ford F-250 4x4. I bought it from the original owner. I have sold my newer Powerstroke, and was actually looking for a 70's crew cab when this popped up on Craigslist. It has a 390 and a 4 speed. Power brakes and (from what I learned here) added later power assist steering. Brakes still drum. I love the color of this ol truck, it is in pretty good shape for what it is and drives awesome. It had some wide bald tires on it and some ugly wheels...found these wheels/tires and caps. I know the caps are not correct (they can do for now), if anyone has a correct set lemme know!! Anyways, I am into REALLY Old Ford cars and trucks, but this 72 is a whole new ballgame for me so I may be asking some dumb questions down the road

The speedometer shows 98,000 miles so either that or 198,000 Plans are to drive the truck and use it for what it was built for. I need to wire up some trailer brakes as I do a lot of towing and need a good solid truck to do just that.

You can get a ton of info on your truck over on this site too...

Your hubcaps are correct as far as I'm concerned. I have the same on my 69 F250, see my garage and gallery, and they are period correct for several model trucks offered at that time. There's another style of "dog dish" caps that cover the center of the wheel, and there are several full-size hubcaps that look good on our trucks.

I thought these caps were more late 70's-80's...The ones I am thinking about are the same size, but have crowns around them like late 60's Fords. Thanks for the info!

Hey Swenz, can you post the info on your driver's side door plate/info tag? That's the color I want my 69 F250 to be...when I get the $$$ together for a repaint...but I don't know the color code or Ford name for that color. To me it's turquoise, but I'd like to be exact. I can look up the color code/color if you can post your tag info. Thanks.

Two styles were available: Stainless with black accents, or argent with black accents. There were so many versions/diameters/depths, I'm not listing the part numbers.
There were 15" & 16" hubcaps, with/without 4WD, the depth depends on what rear axle was installed...so verify before buying any. These 15" & 16" hubcaps were also used on 1969/77 Econolines.

In 1978, Ford offered 2 versions of 16" "Mag" style wheelcovers for F250/350 2WD/4WD's & E250/350's. In 1979, these covers were also available in 15" for F100/150's, Bronco's & E100/150's.
F250/350: In 1985, when the Sterling 10.25" rear axle was introduced, this "Mag" style wheel cover has a larger diameter center ornament, than was used prior to 1985.
