Fuel Filter Vacuum Switch
I have a leak at the fuel filter vacuum switch. Ive done my research and found its a common problem commonly fixed with a simple plug. Use fuel resistant teflon tape and dont over tighten otherwise I have more serious issues. Still have a couple quick questions regarding my particular situation:
A) Im planning on attempting to trade this thing in for a car (yeah, I know,
), is it a bad idea to do the plug? Really doubt they'd notice, but want to make sure theres no lights on the dash if possible.B) People are saying this throws up a dash light when the filter is clogged, I have a check engine light on for a bit over a week now and just noticed the leak about a weak ago - could this be the problem causing the check engine light? I haven't been driving the truck, due to the leak, so I haven't got it tested yet. Am a bit worried about it, probably going to take it to the Ford dealership first to get a trade in quote and if the light is still up maybe they'll check it out.
C) Could a clogged fuel filter cause the leak? I know im over-due to change it out, def going to no matter what, more of a curiosity question I suppose.
D) Pretty sure this is a simple straight forward fix, but just want to make sure im not missing anything. Not going to need to prime it or anything (really dont see why I would)? Did I miss anything?
Thanks guys
Travis
