set the alignment tool head to head with the input shaft to see if they are the same size

well...another unsuccessful day at it...tried all of these tips and it still didnt go in. Only one side at a time wanted to pull to and it was seemingly impossible to get both sides lined up right....tomorrow is another day.

Hey aaron, sorry to hear about lack of success, but we'll keep plugging away at it.. It's gotta go back together sooner or later.

Can you take pictures and post them here? I'd be curious to see how the tranny is fitting (or not fitting) into the bell housing, from different angles if you can.. Like, looking directly up from below the bell housing, so the crack between tranny and bell housing is visible. Maybe a pic through the cab floor hole, showing where they meet?

Another question, in between your failed attempts, did you drop the tranny all the way back out? Maybe a pics of the clutch and related parts would help one of us spot something.

are the dowel pins where they belong in the motor? you don't have one in the block, and one in the bell on the same side?

The dowels were never moved so they're still in the right place, and one on each side. weather hasn't been cooperating last couple days so its all on hold..

Are you doing this by yourself? Do you have a trans jack, or just lifting it in?
