1988 E350 spark plugs wet - error 95- fuel air mixture out of range.
New plugs etc. had been changed, new gas added, started and ran about an hour, mechanic thought it was out of gas and used fork lift to move it out of the way, unfortunately, he left the key ON, when I came out a week later with gas found battery dead.
Fuel pump not working, relay contacts corroded, cleaned with point file fuel pump working. Gas smelled skunky, we pulled low pressure line and removed all the fuel, 12 gallons more than twice the amount of fuel I had just put in the tank so it had not run out of gas. Added more fresh gas and pumped it out. Blew out the return line while we were at it.
Replaced both the EEC power and fuel pump relays, fresh gas, fuel pressure 39lbs rises when vacuum line is removed. Pressure stays up for hours, so that should rule out stuck injectors. Lots of spark but plugs wet. Tries to run at 3/4 throttle and fuel relay out, when relay is reinstalled, stalls out. All fuses are good. Tried another set of new plugs. Swapped out computer.
Bad Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR)?
Pull the vacuum line off the nipple on top, turn on the key with a cold engine, if fuel comes out of the nipple on top the FPR is bad.
Fuel pressure regulator good, 40psi will hold for over an hour, no fuel from nipple. Will only start when pedal is nearly to the floor, running a high RPM but not screaming as it should at that throttle position, died after a couple minutes. Fuel in oil, drained oil and leaving plug and filler cap out for a day. Pulled fuel relay and turned ignition on, fuel pressure stayed up. Sensor test said throttle sensor open probably from me keeping it near the floor. Tested good with sensor tester.
Tested voltage to throttle position sensor + 5vdc to sensor but +12vdc on sensor output dark green/light green wire with sensor unplugged. Output wire was shorted to +12 volt wire between grey engine connector and sensor connector. Cut wires at each end and installed external wire. Now sensor output is correct smooth increase from approximately 1 volt to nearly 5 volts with pedal fully depressed.
Engine still the same, feared damage to EEC box had spare but had been tried before short was found so might also be damaged, Checked ECC internally connections and surface mount resistors were the good. Borrowed ECC for 1988 pickup still the same. Any suggestions.
