8.8 fix/swap?
Have a '91 F150 with what appears to be a blown diff w/ the 8.8. Driveshaft turns pinion, turns ring gear, turns diff...1 spider gear moves up ~1/8" and locks the rear end. Pinion looks like it's chewing the case directly behind it as well. No autotragic and nothing I can see to indicate ABS.
Dad doesn't want to put the work into taking whatever rear end the '84 F150 has and put it in the '91, risking the same problem in short order (we'd only be out a few hours time & ~$40 for Ubolts, if that). I'm not convinced replacing the diff carrier in the current one is the best solution either (lots of hours work, ~$200 shipped from BroncoGraveyard). With all the rain we didn't get today we could have had the rear end's mostly swapped but I get elected to find a 'better' solution... lol
Idea's/suggestions?
