idle issues
I have an 84' F-250 I bought it a couple days ago and it seems to have a really low idle. I dont know much about carbs and was wanting some advice on how to pull it up a bit or is this normal it just seems to be a little too cold natured. Its my first ford and the oldest truck i have owned just need a little help and some tips thanks for your time.

Follow the throttle cable at the base of the linkage there'll be a screw you can use to adjust it. This should be done with the distributor advance mechanism disabled, and timing should be set to the correct base setting with a light.
A low idle could be indicative of other problems, though.

you might also have a major vacume leak, I had a hose 1/2" in dia. that was severly broken that came straight out of the back of the carb that went to some kind of solinoid valve. it was causing a low idle, back firing through the carb, and very poor preformance. I replaced it with a $1.63 hose from autozone and the truck runs like a new one.
