iirc the tcm on these trucks is part of the pcm right? so i just need to find someone with a much better scan tool to pull the tranny codes instead of just generic powertrain ones....still transmission control system malfunction code on a manual tranny? anyone have any ideas even a shot in the dark since it might be a bit till i find a nice scan tool to borrow
With it being a gas motor any OBD2 code reader should be able to read transmission codes for the automatic transmission.
I would assume you are getting a false code as you have a manual trans. I would doubt that your PCM has any transmission programme in it at all.
Maybe use your code reader to clear the code and then check for codes again, if it comes back without any driving I would think either the code reader is throwing a false code or there is a bad connection between the reader and the port.
Just my opinion.
i cleared it the first time i read it and it came back about 100 miles later, but i havnt put the scanner on it yet to see if its the same code or not but ill check it when i can.(i wont have access to my scanner for at least a week so im going off the autoparts store one)
