is this normal?

I posted previously about a rough itle. Coming from a 6.0 to a 7.3 i dont know how they run, but the way it itles really bothers me and i need to know if it is normal so i can get over it. The truck runs great as far as i can tell. Makes good power and shifts smooth. It is a 2000 with 153,000 miles on it. I bought it with 151,000 on it and didnt notice the itle at first. In my other post i was told it could be the icp. I unplugged it and no change. When it is at an itle it has a slight vibration but the more noticable thing to me is that the truck kind of wobbles back and forth a little. With the hood up i can see the movement in the motor. Could it be that something is out of balance like the fan? If this is totally normal please tell me so i can start ignoring it. Thanks Love this forum very informative

I don't think it's normal. Both of my trucks idle smooth and you can hardly notice the engine is running (except for the sound...). While looking at the engine, except for the fan moving and the diesel sound, you would never notice the engine was running.

That being said...both of my trucks have the black CPS and FRx so maybe that has something to do with the idle quality?

Kinda sounds like a miss to me but I could be wrong not seeing it. If you can make a video and post it on you tube, then post a link to it here.

My 2000, before I installed the black CPS and the oil crossover was still very smooth. The HPX helped quite it down at idle and the black CPS has helped it run even better. Dose it sound like a miss? Do you feel it at idle or partial throttle while going down the road?

I only feel it at an itle. Maybe i am paying to close attention and should turn the radio up. I did just look at my cps and it is grey. I have a black one, would it benefit to put it in?

If you ask me your just paying too close attention. Get another CPS and keep it in your truck as a spare

It could be a sticky IPR , but that is an expensive test unless you can run some live data with a PSD scanner ...

Depends on where the black one came from. If it's a Ford or International part, then yes stick it in there. I noticed a difference in how my engine idled (smoother) when I switched from the gray one to a black one.

If the black CPS if aftermarket from a local parts store, then don't bother. The color only matters if it's a Ford part. The ones from the parts stores are even worse. If you do swap it, lube up the o-ring and stick the gray CPS in a ziploc bag and keep it in your glove box as a spare.
