Help with oil pan install, please !!

Can anybody tell me, on a '74 360 should the oil pan be installed with the sump towards the front of the engine or to the back?

This engine will be installed in a '74 F250 4x4.

Unfortunately I wasn't there when the engine was tore down for the rebuild so I didn't get to see it first.

Is there a difference in the oil pickup tube between the front sump and the rear sump installation. I know this one may sound silly but I was instructed to ask.

I believe that you could only put it on one way. You will need a rear sump for the 4x4, the pickup tubes are different for a rear sump pan.
