My mother told me to log on here and post this message--my apologies in advance, but I'm not very educated on matters of the inner-workings of automobiles and can only repeat what she said, whether it makes sense or not. If you have questions about the problem I describe, I can relay them to her when I see her again later.
This is what she told me is the difficulty:
The truck is a 1994 Ford F150. They replaced the distributor, replaced the plugs and plug wires, replaced the coil, and now that they replaced the distributor, it wants to die. According to my mom, it seems like it's "not getting fire."
Any thoughts on this? We quite seriously are in a bind without the truck working.
Was the replacement distributor new? Many of the rebuilt units are very susceptible to having a bad stator, aka PIP, inside them. Very common problem with this vintage vehicle. When the PIP dies the coil no longer gets it's signal to fire.
