Time to take my 1999 V10 F-250 superduty in for trans repair. Torque converter seal is leaking very badly at trans temps over 150F. This has been a on going problem with this truck for over 4 years and it's getting worse. With temps soon to hit the 110's here in Arizona. I have to get this fixed ASAP! Stopping for red lights, the fluid just pours out all over the exhaust and smokes and it's not a pretty sight.
Just wanted to ask about how much should this repair cost me? I know most of it is going to cost me labor with the part probably costing around 10 bucks.
Has anyone here had this problem before?
Thanks for any feedback.
Only now after 4 years after having noticed this condition you'll pay attention to it? No real way of knowing what damage has been done by ignoring this but chances are it's going to cost more now than when it was first discovered.
Your urgent need now will certainly add significantly to the cost so maybe this will be a lesson learned.
Hope its not too much-----tranny's can get spendy very quickly if you don't have a well trusted and knowledgeable guy doing the work.

just haven't had the money to have it fixed. I got a quote yesterday for $900 it's going into the shop in a couple of weeks. Trans oil still good, (not burnt) trans still shift perfectly. Don't think any damange has been done but we'll see once they get it apart.
