Dies out

i got a 2000 7.3. If i dont let the truck warm up for 20 minutes or so, when i go to take off, she will just die. I can get her to start again but acts like she's running on 4 cylinders. That will go on for 5 minutes or so, then she's fine. This is going on when its not even cold outside. what causes that?
