Road grime entering engine compartment!

Anyone found good ways of preventing "tire sling", road grime, water, salt, sand, mud, etc, from entering the engine compartment through the tops of both front coil spring mounts?

i have an 03 6.o and do not clean it.198,000 and runs great.

Shouldn't be, are the splash guards in place and in decent shape?
