I purchased this 4x4 Ranger less than a month ago at a local dealership. Then, 11 days later I notice the pinion seal is leaking badly and took it back and they replaced it. Now when I take off there like 2 or three bumps, pretty good ones, that you feel and you can tell it's from the read end. I ask the dealership if they replaced the fluid and it was no. I asked them how they disassembled it to replace the seal and was told it was done from the front by pulling the driveshaft flange. I didn't know you could do that without changing the gear lash between the pinion and ring gear and am concerned about driving it. There's also quite a bit of play in the rear diff when you jack it up and spin the back wheels. There's probably two inches of play in either wheel before the driveshaft starts to move. I have a 30 day or 1,000 miles whichever comes first warranty and I'm close to both. The warranty is 100% parts and labor for covered items and the differential case and internal parts is included. What do you folks think about the play and the way the seal was replaced. The dealership is being less than cooperative about the whole thing and I'm not going to let it slide. It's an open diff, 4.10, 8.8 RG......Thank's
If it's performing differently than it did prior to repair stay on em till it's fixed. Don't let it go on and get past the warranty period. Also get documentation for every visit and save them all in case you have more issues after the warranty period expires.
