Has anyone put the Fortera's on their Expy's? and if so how do you like them?

Dealer is telling me that's my vibration problem... Wrangler's r/t's Vibrated just as much, And this is my second set of Fortera's in 6 months.......and still have the vibration from 27,000 miles(wrangler's put on)...........now i have 45k and same vibration

Goodyear Fortera on Expy

I put Fortera's on my 2000 EB 4x4 Expy when I bought it used about 7 months ago - 6K miles on them so far.

So far they seem to be OK - I have noticed some slight vibration, but wasn't thinking it might be the tires...can you describe what you are feeling?

I am still getting used to the Expy, so I pay attention to changes in how it drives - was wondering what I was feeling. The tires are balanced - just had them rotated and they drive ok up to 70 mph. I mostly drive 45-55 mph and notice that it doesn't feel quite like it did when they were new... Hard to pin down unless you can compare to a similar Expy with different tires.

It's seems at 65 up to about 90 it's more like a bad shimmy and when i rotated the tires it got worse at lower speeds........got it narrowed down to the back two tires...........they were balanced when the second set was put on......back in January...........gonna have them checked again and look for anyhting outta the ordinary as far as lateral run out or shifted belts......unfortunatley i haven't found anyone up here in cleveland that check rims for running true...........and if they tell me i have another set of bad tires they are gonna get an earful when i ask for michelins and they tell me i can only put goodyears on it.........but even if they tell me they are bad, im still gonna question the rims cause a tire is gonna conform to the rim...........and c'mon 3 sets of tires have shifted belts?..........dealer is useless when it comes to this because the tires aren't on their approved replacements....so they blame it on that

I see this all the time on Goodyear tires - I've never been too impressed with them. The large tires on the Expys are difficult to balance, and just driving them for 1,000 removes enough rubber that they're out of balance again. I have Michelin Cross Terrains (the tire that the Fortera is supposed to compete with) and there is no contest. I'm convinced that if it weren't for the Police contracts, Goodyear would be out of business. So far this year, I've processed approximately $2,000 in manufacturer's defects from Goodyear. Mostly for uneven wear and nastry vibrations (on vehicles that we regularly inspect). By comparison, last year I processed $170 from BFGoodrich (owned by Michelin).

I would find something that is built better than the Goodyears (even Nitto tires are leaps and bounds beyond anything Goodyear has to offer).

Good luck!

DaleJarretFan - an easy way to check the rims is to have the tire store de-mount the tires, put the rims on the balance machine (without the tires) and check them - both for balance, and for bends (if the rim is bent, then it will appear to wobble while spinning.)

No problem. Go buy some Michelin Cross Terrains, and then take the Goodyears back and get some $ back. They should have some sort of [hush hush] ride guarantee - maybe 30 days? Most places keep it under wraps because the ride guarantee is up to the manufacturer, not the retailer. That's why it's never advertised.

Good luck!

If anyone wants to see what a bad tire on an Expy looks like, go to my gallery. The original tires my truck came with were under a recall notice...I waited until the last minute to change them, literally!
