Fairly new to the newer SDs, coming off a 99. I now have an 08 F250, 4X4, which I am loving more each day.
When sitting at an intersection, and turning either direction from a dead stop, I get a slight vibration when taking off. If I straighten it up, it goes away immediately. It does stay when the tranny shifts.
Thinking U joint or pumpkin. Wouldnt a U joint vibrate on straightaways too? It almost feels like the rear end is vibrating, and I am guessing if something was hanging up on turns, it could shake like this since the wheels are wanting to turn different amounts?
If you have a limited slip differential in your truck I agree you could be experiencing some shudder. I get a little shudder in my LS diff however I am running very little friction modifier. You can try putting in 4 oz. or so of LS diff friction modifier and see if it goes away if it bothers you.
Cool. I thought it would be the limited slip, just have never felt one shudder like that, and didnt know it was a normal thing. What is a LS modifier? Thought about changing to synthetic, but with the snow here in Ohio, dont want to make it too slippery.

A Ford dealer can get you some friction modifier and you can get it from some aftermarket companies. I got my friction modifier from Amsoil (see link) as I was using their gear oil. Amsoils modifier works with any brand oil.
The 75w-140 gear oil is synthetic, I never saw 75w-140 that wasn't synthetic. If you bought your 08' used it is possible the previous owner changed the oil in the rear diff and didn't add any or enough modifier.
