possible computer issue?

well, now i think i have a real problem, I got the truck into the ford garage and they called me back telling me the ECU it reading their getting 17+MPG. But using the old dist/gallons method i get 10. So i guess my computer is bad, and they just tell me theirs nothing wrong with it.
