changing conversion van windows...
My dad wants to change the windows in his 91 E150 on the back doors and the side passenger doors. Thw windows don't open or anything. there is a van in the junkyard that has all the hardware and windows in perfect shape. They swing open from the bottom. he thinks the doors had to be replaced to make this work. i think all you do is mount the hardware and new window because the vans have the holes in the doors. But i am not sure....what do you guys think???

the fixed winfdows are only held in by the rubber gaskets, it can be tricky geting them out without breaking them, the only thing you really have to do once the old ones are out is put the hardware and new gaskets on. The hinges just slide together so putting the upper part of the hinge on the door is a breeze, You might want to get a poloroid or a good digital camera an get picture of the doors at the junkyard so you get everthing in the right place, but all in all is should be a pretty easy install, you migh also look in a haynes manual, It should give you instructions on replacing the different windows.

A phillips screwdriver is the only tool you need for the hinged units, the gasket shouldn't be glued, but you may have to remove door panels to retrieve the body side hinge mounting plate.
A wide hinged driver side middle window was optional also.
All the rear side windows I have seen were fixed,
some had the chrome trim insert.
