I am one of those who installed the DDM lights on my truck. I am running the 35W, 5000 combination. I spent a lot of time adjusting the lights because I was getting flashed a lot. Now that I am not getting flashed anymore, I am finding that the lights are pointed to a point that does not give me much more downrange lighting than what I had with the factory bulbs.
A good portion of the problem is due to spectral spread of these unhoused HID lamps. There is nothing there to focus the light, so errant light is obviously shooting across to the opposite lane. I have bought a number of extra bulbs and found a combination that seems to be "tighter" than others. Even with that, I still need to aim lower. I live in a fairly developed area so it is not people seeing these for the first time and thinking they are too bright. I am surrounded by BMWs, Mercedes and a whole host of other cars with factory installed HIDs. Even the aftermarket products are seen here. I think due to the truck's height and the very large lens area, my lights are more annoying than the rest.
I saw the thread on the Recon projectors being available in the summer. Has anyone else found a supplier of these projectors for the 2011 vehicles. And if you have installed them, how did they work out?
The reason I can't wait is that I am going up to New York for turkey season in a few weeks. A lot of night driving anticipated. I would wait except the other problem is that I basically have no high beam. For whatever reason, the downrange increase on the high beams is only about 10% more than the lows!
Recon expects to have them in June for the 11 Super-Duty
Thanks. Been in touch with them already. Was hoping to find another supplier. There is another company out there that their name escapes me. They currently make housings for the 2008 - 2010 trucks but have no plans at present to make a version for the 2011+ vehicles.
Just another note on the DDMs'. They throw out a good amount of light for the area they cover. Would work out great if they were housed in a projector.
Anzo USA has projector headlights and LED taillights for Super Duties up to 2010, but only taillights for 2011s. Anzo 311127 at AutoAnything
I'm looking for projector headlight assemblies that swap turn signal and headlight position, but that's not likely to happen.

Thanks for the info Gavin. I will check in with them to see what their plans are. I agree you will find it hard to lights with swapped positions. I know there are DOT & NHSTA requirements for light heights. I think I remember Paul from Ford talking about these regulations in one of the threads on roof lights.

I think Ford wanted to meet the new reg. in advance and it never happened. Chevy and Dodge are inside headlights and outside turn signals. I believe Chevy has two separate bright and dim reflector/bulb assemblies. The dims being the lower and the brights on top. I guess were stuck with amber eyebrows.
