Yesterday I took on the task of replacing a friends ball joint in his 2006 F-250 SD 4wd, 5.4 gasser. When I started the disassembly process I tried to remove the vaccuum line on the knuckle on the drivers side. Couldn't get it removed so gave up in hopes to not break anything. After much frustration (seals bad, u joints shot, much corrosion, etc...) I started reassembly. Passenger side fine (I did not try to remove vacuum line from passenger side) drivers side went fine until I tried to turn the hub after assembly of all components other than tire. Hub turned less than 1/8 turn and felt like it hit a bolt! I thought I had done something wrong in the axle reassembly. After removeing the hub this morning, the axle assembly is correct and with the hub loose the hub is the problem. I tried starting the motor to build vacuum and switced the cab switch to 4Wd and back to 2wd. Nothing different. Is the vacuum my problem and should I completely reassemble then try to start motor, switch t-case and see if problem solved? I hate to keep tearing apart and putting back together in order to avoid wrecking the o-rings. They are fine now. I really appreciate anyone help on this. I need to get it together today as it is his work truck and needs it tomorrow morning. Thanks.
grease the living hell out of it.... and also did u put the washer that has the four grooves in the correct spot??? that has alot to do with the vaccum lines and letting the air get through
