Time for ARP studs....

Bought my 2004 6.0 just over 1 year ago, has 53,000 on it now. I spent a lot of time reading up on the 6.0 here on FTE and tried to take all the precautions and make my 6.0 last.

3 weeks ago, pulled a car hauler with my buddies Mustang about 200 miles, got to his house and had coolant all over the drivers side wheel well, came from the degas bottle. I never had high engine temps or tranny temps, watched both EGT and boost closely the entire time. Pressure washed the bottle and drivers side wheel well and put a new cap on it, topped off the coolant and wished for the best. Two days later, all kinds of coolant from the degas bottle

She's been at the dealership since, both heads needed to be machined. I brought them ARP studs and an EGR delete and they are installing both. They are also installing a new oil cooler while they have it apart. They are charging $4,200 for the entire job, my aftermarket warranty is only covering $3,000. I'm out $900 for the studs and EGR delete, and $1,200 to the dealership. I figure most guys who do this job themselves spend about 2k so I'm making out well....

I should have it back end of this week if all goes well. I have had trouble with dealerships in the past, but let me tell you, these guys are amazing. My warranty company is a PITA and they were trying to not pay for the entire job. The dealership handled everything and actually suggested studs and EGR delete, awesome guys to work with.

EGR Delete

That's interesting that you have a dealer that did the EGR delete. I tried to get my Ford dealer to do the EGR delete but they refused and said that it was illegal.I had to go somewhere else to have the EGR delete done.

They are leaving an EGR valve in place. The EGR delete kit is a welded up pipe (where the EGR cooler would attach) and a sneaky pipe. I know the guys well up there and they said they didn't mind.

I got my final invoice today, hopefully can get the truck this evening, otherwise early tomorrow.
They are replacing: Top-end gaskets, T-stat, Exhaust manifold gaskets/bolts, coolant res, Oil cooler, pressure test heads, new glow plug harness, and fluids

-$900 for ARP studs and EGR delete

$5,100 dollar job! Wow, glad I purchased an aftermarket warranty...
